Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation

Course Information

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation Training – The majority of people who survive a cardiac arrest are resuscitated from ventricular fibrillation (VF) by the administration of a defibrillatory shock. This is most likely to be successful when it is given very soon after the onset of VF; emergency service personnel are often unable to arrive soon enough to help a victim.

Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are designed to be used by members of the public, and are very effective at guiding the operator through the process of administering the shock. They have become widely available, are safe and easy to use, and will not allow a shock to be given to a victim who does not require one.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation Training.

This course provides you with the ability to give someone potentially lifesaving treatment through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and with the skills to operate an automated external defibrillator (AED).

A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time but it’s possible to survive and recover if you get the right treatment quickly. Having a defibrillator in your workplace, and knowing how to use it, can dramatically increase the chances of survival if someone’s heart stops beating – but it must be used promptly. For every one minute delay in delivering the shock, survival reduces by up to 10%.

If you are an organisation, employer or individual who has an AED on your premises and would like to improve lifesaving first aid skills in your community, this course will help you to develop the appropriate skills to make a difference.

We can deliver this Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation training course directly in your workplace, reducing your costs for staff travel and reducing time out of the business. The group cost to deliver this course for 6-10 delegates direct in your workplace is only £510.00 +VAT.
The QA Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that has been specifically designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and skills needed to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use an AED safely in emergency situations.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation training – who is this course suitable for:

Suitable for people 18 years and over, this course is designed for workplace candidates who wish to be trained in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) machine and having the lifesaving skills and knowledge in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. This course is ideal for Nursery Managers and staff, Teachers and School assistants, Sport centre staff and Retail staff.

Duration:
Half Day (4 Hours) We are flexible with starting times to meet the needs of your business.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation - Course Content:

  • Basic Life Support
  • Defibrillation (recognition of heart rhythms)
  • CPR and use of AED on a casualty
  • Primary assessment
  • Obstructed Airway Management (choking)
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in adults and children
  • Procedures for when Emergency Services arrive
  • Safety and Maintenance

It is the view of the Resuscitation Council (UK) that the use of AEDs should NOT be restricted to trained personnel. Furthermore, the Resuscitation Council (UK) considers that it is inappropriate to display notices to the effect that only trained personnel should use the devices, or to restrict their use in other ways. Such restrictions are against the interests of victims of cardiac arrest, and discourage the greater use of AEDs by members of the public who may be able to preserve life and assist victims of cardiac arrest. This confirms similar advice from the British Heart Foundation.
